Teacher of Girls PE (Maternity Cover) job summary

If you are a dedicated, driven Teacher of Girls PE who has a real passion for the subject and a drive to instill this in your learners then we have an exciting opportunity for you…

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Teacher of Girls PE with excellent subject knowledge. The successful candidate will join the school’s highly successful and enthusiastic department working and collaborating with an exceptionally dedicated and talented team of practitioners.

What we are looking for:
• An excellent classroom practitioner
• Somebody who is well-organised, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Somebody who works well with staff and pupils alike
• Strong classroom management skills
• Knowledge of Girls PE at both Key Stage 3 & 4
• Someone keen to make a difference to the lives of young people
• Someone looking to join a community that works to develop young people into successful citizens.
• Someone ready to work with young people both in lessons and as a tutor

What Fulston Manor School can offer you:
• Mentoring and high-level training
• Encouragement to develop your career with excellent promotion opportunities
• A family atmosphere with welcoming staff and students
• A caring environment with well-being and work/life balance at its core.
• To be part of a whole school team – working together to achieve and valuing every individual’s contribution.

The Physical Education department consists of seven PE staff, led by a Head of Department, who works closely alongside a Head of Girls PE. All members of staff assist in the delivery of PE & Games lessons and a range of extra-curricular activities, including participation in local and county competitive sport competitions. A BTEC is offered as an optional subject at KS4 and students can further develop their interest in our subject in the Sixth Form, where the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Sport is delivered. Staff also provide additional support to students studying these courses, in the form of after-school workshops and the department is proud of the consistently successful results that are achieved.

The department adopts a child-centered approach towards PE & Games lessons. In terms of inter and intra-school sport, competition is encouraged and excellence rewarded. That said, fundamental to all that is done is the desire to involve and to motivate all students regardless of their level of ability. Every effort is made to ensure that the element of pleasure is never lost sight of by those taking part; the participation of the many is not sacrificed for the achievements of the few.

Applications are invited from experienced teachers or newly qualified teachers who possess the skills, enthusiasm, and commitment necessary to ensure our students succeed and develop in our nurturing community.

For any further information, however, please do not hesitate to contact the school; you are, of course, most welcome to visit – we are able to arrange this with the present social distancing measures in place.

A job description and person specification is attached for further details.

We reserve the right to withdraw the advertisement early and to interview candidates during the advertisement window; candidates are therefore encouraged to apply at their earliest convenience.
