Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College is an outstanding Catholic school committed to ensuring all of our students excel spirituality and academically. At Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College everything we do is “For the Greater Glory of God”. Our vision is that all members of our community play their part in making the world a better place. In order for society to flourish we must be people of good character as described by our college virtues.
Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College is a popular and well respected school which is always oversubscribed. Parents recognise that we are an inclusive community where staff and students aim to live their lives in the image of Christ as far more than merely words on a page.
We are seeking to appoint a permanent part time 0.6 fte Teacher of Girls’ Physical Education to become an integral part of our experienced PE department. We can also offer the successful candidate the School Sports Coordinator position which involves working closely with our local feeder primary schools. This could potentially mean that the post would be 0.8 fte.
At our college, we want Physical Education to be as enjoyable as possible. This means fun, engaging lessons and a breadth of activities to interest as wide a range of students as we can. Our vision is that students leave the college with a positive experience of physical activity and therefore remain involved in sport and exercise and are motivated to lead a healthy, active lifestyle. Here is a link to our PE curriculum presentation: https://www.blessededward.co.uk/home/college-life/curriculum/pe/ .
Through our diverse and engaging curriculum and rich extra curricular programme, the PE department has fostered a sporting culture at the college. Over a third of students in the college participate on a regular basis in our lunchtime and after school practices and fixtures. The right candidate will be a committed, motivated individual, who thrives working in a team environment. A background in football as a specialism and an interest in netball will be an advantage. The candidate will also be expected to teach OCR Cambridge National Certificate in Sports Studies to Key Stage 4 students as part of their role.
In return our college can offer you a welcoming and inclusive environment with a culture of openness and transparency. We place great emphasis on the wellbeing of our staff and offer a number of benefits to support this. You will also benefit from support, mentoring and development tailored to you. Teachers flourish at Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College and we offer ongoing career advancement for teachers at all levels.
Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College is a very special place. Our students are friendly, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. If you have a passion for sport/Physical Education and share our commitment to ensuring every student achieves their potential, please get in touch. Please see our website for further details and an application form. Completed applications should be returned to Mrs Kay Taylor, Headteacher’s PA before the closing date: ktaylor@blessededward.co.uk .
Closing date: 10.00am on Tuesday 18 June 2024.
