Teacher of Health and Social Care job summary

Join our thriving, multicultural, and oversubscribed North London comprehensive (rated "Good" by Ofsted) as a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Health & Social Care. As a large, vibrant Local Authority secondary school, we pride ourselves on our inclusive ethos and our commitment to providing vocational excellence.

Health & Social Care is a popular subject; at KS4, the BTEC Tech Award Level 1/2 in Health & Social Care is offered, which is followed at KS5 by the Cambridge Technical Level 3 in Health & Social Care. Many students progress to careers in related fields such as midwifery, nursing, and teaching. We are looking for someone who can bring the curriculum to life with real-world context and academic rigour.

Winchmore is an excellent environment in which to work, with outstanding opportunities for professional development. You would benefit from:

  • Supportive SLT and friendly colleagues

  • Enthusiastic students and a wide range of extracurricular activities

  • Excellent professional development opportunities and career progression

  • Outer London salary and staff wellbeing program

  • Opportunity to run after-school clubs

  • On-site Gym

The role:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons across KS4 and KS5 (Level 2 and Level 3 vocational qualifications).

  • Foster an environment where students feel supported and encouraged.

  • Contribute to the development of innovative resources and curriculum planning.

  • Support students through internal assessments and external examinations with a focus on high achievement and "value-added" progress.

Applications are welcome from ECTs for whom we offer a very highly regarded and supportive programme. For ECTs we are able to offer a July 2026 start date.

We reserve the right to interview and appoint any suitable candidates as applications are received.
