The school has a key focus on staff well-being with numerous initiatives in place to support this. They include time for planning off-site for all teachers, active sessions in school alongside a range of workload reforms. We place significant emphasis on working collegiately as a staff to share our expertise and subsequently enhance the learning experience with our students. Every member of the staff isinvolved in a variety of professional learning programmesthat take place every Wednesday across the academic year. All teachers are members of theChartered College of Teaching providing access to the latest evidence and research.

We have implemented a bespoke leadership programme enabling staff to develop their knowledge and understanding of leadership. This has provided a number of promotional opportunities for staff within the school. Wherever possible, we will promote from within our school. Healthy Living is an innovative aspect of our curriculum and a bespoke courseunique to Southfield School.Praised during our recent Ofsted visit, Itaims to establish and sustain positive behaviours while ensuring students understand and apply the expected approach to learning and values of the school on a daily basis. The course combines a number of traditional disciplines in Year 7 to connect the curriculum and at the same time reducethe number of staff students encounter through their timetable. All Heathy Living sessions are delivered by the same member of staff to build relationships and ease the transitional experience from Year 6 to 7. The programme is delivered up to, and including Key Stage Five. Nurturing a positive perception of physical activity, healthy nutritional habits and long-lasting learning habits are central to the Healthy Living Curriculum. This combines with personal development, careers guidance andimmersive experiences that engage the students with global issues as we continue their progression as active participants locally, nationally and on the world stage.

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated and committed teacher who will embrace the varied curriculum and opportunities this role will provide. Students enjoy a myriad of different activities as part of the Healthy-Active element including mountain biking (on the school-site), Yoga, mindfulness and many more. You will join a vibrant team of staff who work collegiately to plan and deliver an exciting and enriching curriculum. There may be opportunities to teach across different areas of the curriculum with the possibility of further responsibilities in the future.
