Teacher of History job summary

East Leake Academy has an opportunity for an excellent Teacher of History with a commitment to academic excellence and helping every learner succeed.

The History department is committed to providing a diverse, accessible, yet challenging curriculum to meet the needs of all students.

The curriculum offers a broad coverage of subjects with opportunities for students to develop deep knowledge of British and world history, whilst fostering the development of second order concepts from year 7 onwards.

The subject has a strong uptake at GCSE and A level. The department delivers GCSE and A level History, and the courses include the following topics at GCSE: Democracy and Dictatorship in Germany, Conflict and Tension between East and West, 1945-1972. Britain: Health and the People, 1000AD – present, and Elizabethan England.

At A level, the courses are Tsarist and Communist Russia, 1855-1964 and The Making of Modern Britain, 1951-2007, and students also complete an NEA on the witch-craze in Early Modern Europe.
