The successful candidate is required to join the team from February 2023, or earlier if possible. Due to the nature of this position, the school reserves the right to bring candidates in earlier of interview if necessary in order to fill the vacancy with the briefest of delays. What the school offers its staff

At Birkdale we aim to be leaders in the education of boys and this starts with a clear focus on developing effective teaching pedagogy and not engaging in educational fads or gimmicks. Our Teaching and Learning development is driven by a focus on cognitive science and educational research and our quality assurance of teaching is developmental rather than judgemental. Our staff are given the space and support to make positive changes to their practice in a risk-free environment; we share best practice, support and challenge each other and are eager to accept our professional obligation to improve methods of embedding the knowledge our boys need.

The Humanities department at Birkdale High School is made up of collaborative and hard working staff. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team of people who have worked hard to develop a knowledge rich, carefully sequenced and challenging curriculum. With an emphasis on modelling and effective retrieval practice, we ensure that we invest time and energy in strategies that most benefit our boys.
