To start after February half term 2025

We are a highly successful, community mixed comprehensive school with Teaching School status in a pleasant rural setting only 5 miles from the centre of Cambridge and are currently seeking to recruit a teacher of History who can start after February half term 2025. The school has approximately 2,000 11-18 year old pupils on roll including our sixth form centre that opened in September 2011.

Our pupils are well motivated, staff morale is excellent and examination results at KS4 and KS5 were outstanding: Both attainment and progress measures regularly and consistently put the school in the top 5% of all state comprehensive schools. The school has consistently been rated by Ofsted as Outstanding over very many years.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching History. The successful candidate would be expected to teach History across KS3 and depending on the candidate, it may be possible for them to also deliver KS4-5. History is a very popular subject at our school, and we experience a high number of students taking it at GCSE and at A-level. The suitable candidate should be willing to contribute towards the ethos and innovative practice of our department, attending meetings when appropriate and supporting with extra-curricular activities offered during the day.

The history department at Comberton is a highly supportive environment, with several very experienced staff. We have well planned schemes of work available in all year groups.

Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.
