Teacher of History job summary
Sandwell Academy is one of the top performing schools in the Sandwell region. The Academy is annually over-subscribed and a hugely popular destination for students. Due to continued growth we are now seeking a Teacher of History to join our team asap. This post would suit a teacher at any stage of their career and offers an exciting opportunity for ambitious and hardworking professionals to launch or develop their career with outstanding professional support within a dynamic team of staff.
Department Overview
At Key Stage 3 all students follow the National Curriculum with students receiving 80 minutes per week for History and Geography. At Key Stage 4 students can study GCSE History, following the Pearson (Edexcel) specification, and at Post 16, students study OCR ‘A’ Level History.
We are keen to give students a range of experiences and provide visits off site, field trips and invite guest, speakers and industrialists into the Academy.
There are eight designated teaching spaces within Humanities (1 learning base and 5 study rooms.) All teaching spaces are equipped with interactive smart boards and the latest technology, and that venues are conducive to outstanding learning. ICT plays a large role in planning and delivery of the curriculum and students can access resources online from home.

Sandwell Academy opened in 2006 and now educates over 1,200 students, recruiting 200 students each year into Year 7 and a Sixth Form of 350 students. Sandwell Academy is part of the Thomas Telford Multi Academy Trust (TTMAT), established in September 2017. The MAT currently consists of three secondary schools; Madeley Academy, Sandwell Academy and Walsall Academy. Sandwell Academy works closely with the schools within the MAT and Thomas Telford School.
