History
History has one of the largest option cohorts at GCSE and at Advanced Level. At GCSE, students study the Edexcel course covering Medieval through to Modern British History and American History. A selection of Medieval and Modern History modules are studied at AS and A2. The KS3 History curriculum is skills-based and focused on a range of inspiring enquiry questions spanning from the Roman period up to the Modern day. Students are taught in mixed ability groups and the department has a great deal of success in motivating the entire ability range; celebrating equally the achievements of those who struggle to develop historical knowledge and skills and those who each year go on to study History at top universities including Cambridge and Oxford.
Following a department restructure, you will join a newly formed Humanities Team, who pride themselves on their innovative approach to supporting every student to achieve their full potential. You will benefit from entering a new department who are keen to work collaboratively and welcome forward-thinking initiatives. We are able to offer a new colleague advice, support and professional development opportunities in a friendly, positive and creative environment. The department is exceptionally well resourced with dedicated classrooms based around the library and modern IT projection equipment in every classroom.
