Job Overview

Are you a highly skilled, creative and ambitious Teacher of Humanities?

Are you able to teach across a range of Humanities subjects, including RE, PSHCE, Geography and History?

Are you newly qualified and seeking your first teaching role? Or perhaps you are an experienced Teacher looking to move to a new school which will support your development and growth?

Do you have a passion for teaching and a commitment to providing students an exceptional experience?

Do you want to join a team of dedicated, talented Teachers in a well-resourced department where schemes of work and lesson resources are ready to use to help you deliver an exciting, challenging curriculum?

Do you believe in an inclusive environment where all learners can be successful?

Would you like to work in a school where “Leaders, including Governors, value the work of staff and where new Teachers speak highly of the support they are given”? (Ofsted June 2023)

Are you looking to work in a thriving and well-regarded school where staff well-being is central to all of our decision making?

If the answer to any of these questions is “yes” then we would like to hear from you!

Waingels, a popular 11-18 school where students achieved above national average in all measures and was identified as “continuing to be good” in a recent OFSTED inspection, is seeking to appoint a Teacher of Humanities for a maternity cover. The successful candidate will join a highly motivated faculty and will have the opportunity to teach at key stage 3 and 4.

Geography and History are taught across all key stages. We strongly believe in a three-year Key Stage 3 and have taken significant time to create an engaging, relevant and knowledge-rich curriculum. Planning, curriculum development and effective feedback are particular strengths of the Geography and History department and we are often used as examples to support other subjects. History and Geography staff work very closely together in an environment where staff wellbeing is at the forefront.

RE and PSHCE is taught through our well-regarded and innovative Beliefs & Life Curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4.

We are looking to appoint someone who is confident that they can deliver high quality lessons, predominantly our innovative and engaging Belief & Life Curriculum which covers Religious studies and PSHCE.

Working with us offers you the opportunity to:

Join a “kind and caring school” where pupils “enjoy being part of the inclusive community” (OFSTED 2023) that aims to be an “exceptional school at the heart of our community”.

Be part of a forward-thinking department with well-resourced schemes of work

Engage in excellent, personalised professional development opportunities

Work in a school where the values of Respect, Kindness, Pride and Responsibility underpin all we do.
