Teacher of Humanities job summary
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding 0.8 Humanities teacher to join our Humanities faculty at Breckland School to help develop and drive Humanities across the curriculum. We are a small, thriving team of subject specialists looking for a like-minded colleague to join us. We are looking for a colleague who is confident enough to try new methods and reflect on how they can improve, who want to share their experiences with and learn from their colleagues at a time of positive change in the faculty, and who will put our students and their best interests at the heart of their teaching.
Our Curriculum at KS3 is designed to challenge and inspire students, getting them to think about their position within the world through engagement with the geography, history and religious traditions of the UK and the wider world. We are constantly developing the student offer to include interaction with scholarship and current thinking about all topics covered and have a faculty mentality of ‘high challenge, low threat,’ as promoted by Mary Myatt.
At KS4 we currently follow the OCR B Geography for Enquiring Minds syllabus, the Edexcel History syllabus (Medicine Through Time, American West, Henry VIII and Weimar and Nazi Germany units) and the AQA A Full course in RE with Christianity and Islam as our chosen religions.
Applicants must have a knowledge of at least one aspect of the humanities curriculum (RE, History or Geography) across key stages 3 and 4 and be committed to working collaboratively in a strong, hard-working, and forward-thinking faculty.
Breckland School is a good and improving school well regarded by the local community with whom it works closely. Staff enjoy working here and our students are well behaved and keen to learn.
