Further details about the role
The Humanities department is a highly motivated team of teachers and leaders who inspire a passion for their subjects - Geography, History, Religious Studies, Citizenship and Business - and who collaborate across departments on exciting whole school initiatives. The department has a constant focus on the quality of teaching and learning, supported by weekly peer-to-peer professional development. Our outstanding extra-curricular provision takes advantage of our London connections, such as opportunities with the Holocaust Educational Trust, Solutions Not Sides and the Living in Harmony project by the Woolf Institute/Cambridge University. The Humanities department also plays a significant role in the delivery of the new RSHE curriculum, which is statutory for all schools. A successful candidate would most likely be required to teach outside of their subject specialism for a small portion of their teaching allocation.
Commitment to safeguarding
We expect all staff to share our commitment to safeguarding.
A professional social media check may take place to identify a candidate's online presence to look for negative behaviours such as bullying, racism, nudity and excessive bad language.
The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020, as the work brings employees into contact with children who are regarded by the Act as a vulnerable group. Applicants for any role at WA must disclose all convictions.
