What skills and experience we're looking for

Due to increasing pupil numbers we are in a very fortunate position to be able to offer a full time Teacher of Humanities role to commence in September 2023

We seek a committed full time teacher who is enthusiastic and passionate about their subject. We are seeking a subject specialist In either History, Geography or Religious Studies, who also has the ability to teach at least one other of these Humanities subjects at KS3 and potentially to GCSE. Our Humanities faculty also offers GCSE Business Studies and is introducing Latin for Year 7 pupils from September 2023. At KS3 our curriculum across the Humanities is broad, providing a firm foundation for GCSE, whilst not being constrained by GCSE content. We have high expectations of all of our pupils.

These subjects form part of our energetic and exciting Humanities Faculty, comprising of a team of professionals who work together and support each other. The staff are all subject specialists and are passionate about what they teach and about achieving excellent results. Student outcomes are good and we are looking to add further strength to this team. The faculty is ambitious and forward looking and strives to ensure that every student excels.

The successful candidate will be a reflective practitioner who is able to maximise the potential of all our pupils. They will use teaching and assessment effectively to ensure that all pupils know, remember and can apply key knowledge and skills. We are also looking for a colleague who can make a contribution to the wider life of the school, through extra-curricular clubs, trips and visits.

What the school offers its staff

We have 790 pupils on roll with 1.5 form entry in our Primary Phase whilst over the last two years our secondary phase has increased from three to four forms of entry. Polam Hall is a school with a unique and long history, which today is proud to be a fully comprehensive school serving the young people of Darlington. Our mission is to educate the whole child, developing leadership, compassion, character and academic ambition, through the combination of our Academic and Concordia Crescimus curricula.
