Your Role in Building Brighter Futures


As a Teacher of Humanities at Wellsway School you will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of Futura’s mission statement of “Building the brightest future for all, enabling every individual to flourish”. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about living our values and making a positive impact on all the young people in our Trust. you will be responsible for ensuring that every student enjoys an excellent experience in your lessons and will work closely with the rest of the team in developing and delivering engaging Schemes of Learning. Existing schemes of learning and resources are all in place for the successful candidate to use. We also welcome hearing new ideas should you wish to develop your own projects.


As a Teacher of Humanities, your purpose will be:


  • To have responsibility for the planning, delivery and assessment for allocated/identified groups of students; to ensure they achieve their individual potential. Having due regard to the requirements of the curriculum, the school's aims, objectives and schemes of work and any policies of the Wellsway Multi Academy Trust or Academy Governance Committee.
  • To share in the corporate responsibility for the education, wellbeing and discipline of all students.
  • Supporting the development of all students in a vertical tutor group.


What You’ll Bring to Futura


We are looking for a Teacher of Humanities who possesses the following:


Qualifications:

  • Relevant good honours degree
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Successful completion of induction year (not applicable to NQTs)
  • Evidence of wider, recent and relevant professional development (desirable)


Experience:

  • Evidence of suitability to work with children and young people
  • Knowledge of recent developments in learning and teaching
  • A good understanding of effective ways to facilitate learning
  • Experience (as Teacher/Trainee) in a mixed comprehensive school (desirable)
  • Secondary school teaching across the age and ability range from Yr7 to A Level (desirable)


Skills:

  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and teaching skills
  • Ability to establish good relationships within the team, with other colleagues and with students
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent use of ICT as a teaching and admin tool
  • Ability to inspire and engage students
  • Use effectively to data to monitor/track student progress and support learning
  • Demonstrates a passion for creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of our school community.
  • Aligns with our trust-wide values by bringing a positive, collaborative approach to their work and a willingness to continuously develop professionally.
