Teacher of Humanities job summary
TEACHER OF HUMANITIES
Full time, permanent, from September 2022
This role is suitable for an ECT but also, for a candidate with the right experience, there is the possibility of the pastoral role of Deputy Head of Sixth Form (please see separate advert).
We are a five form, mixed, selective school graded Outstanding in all categories by Ofsted in April 2012. The School is proud of its reputation for being inclusive, friendly and welcoming and one that focuses as much on the development of the whole person as much as it does on academic progress.
We are looking for someone with a creative and inspirational approach to teaching and who is capable and willing to teach across the humanities subjects, but who is able to teach Geography and History to GCSE, and Business to GCSE or Economics to A Level.
The School is a friendly, dynamic place to work where both staff and students thrive because they are highly valued. Our students are bright, able and eager to learn, and due to our environment of excellent behaviour, teachers are able to teach their subjects to a high level. The School is situated in a beautiful area of Kent, close to both coast and rolling countryside. It is also close to the channel crossings at Dover and Ashford and has very good connections to London via the High Speed rail route to Kings Cross and the A2/M2 by car. Local house prices and rents are considerably lower than those in London and the Home Counties.
For further details and a downloadable application form please visit the vacancies section of the school website (www.manwoods.co.uk) or contact the Head’s PA, Mrs K Robinson, on head@srms.kent.sch.uk or 01304 610206. Sir Roger Manwood’s School is a mixed grammar school for students aged 11-18. The school was granted Academy status on 1 March 2011. We have 1017 students in total. In September 2014, the school began an expansion from being a 4 form entry to a 5 form entry. The school is set in particularly attractive grounds and has excellent facilities.
The school was inspected by OfSTED in April 2012. The inspectors judged the school to be outstanding in every respect. In the achievement of the pupils, in the quality of the teaching, in the behaviour and safety of the pupils, in leadership and management and in the overall effectiveness of the school the judgements of the Inspection team were in every case the top grade.
Academic results are consistently of a very high standard. As a result we appear prominently in the national league tables. The vast majority of our Sixth Formers go on to the most competitive universities including Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, Kings and Warwick.
