What the school offers its staff
- Swanmore Supports Your Professional Development
We are fully committed to championing professional development and all teaching staff are allocated a specific slot for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) reducing a teaching load by one period a week.
- Swanmore Supports New Teachers Entering the Profession
If you are considering applying as an Early Careers Teacher (ECT), we are equipped to support you through our in-house Rural School Alliance training and teaching school. The requirements of the new ECT programme are embedded in our provision, and the support for you as an ECT includes two periods a week of ECT Study time and one period a week with your dedicated mentor. Your mentor will also have dedicated periods in the week to support you through the programme.
- Swanmore Supports Your Career Goals
We have a successful mentoring and coaching culture at Swanmore that supports teachers at all levels of their career to pursue professional development in the direction that most interests them. We would actively encourage interest from candidates who would like to pursue their professional development through the Department for Education (DFE) ‘National professional qualifications’ (NPQs) route when the next round of applications open in 2023. Alongside a dedicated mentor to successfully achieve this qualification, you will be given time – in addition to the CPD period all teachers receive, you will receive an additional protected period included in your teaching load to support the DFE estimated ‘average weekly study time of 1 to 2 hours’ for the qualification.
