What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a positive, team player who has a passion for developing the potential of children and can deliver excellent teaching.

What the school offers its staff

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, popular school and to develop your skills with a talented staff team. We are a two-site school, and have a vacancy at both sites. We will offer you the chance to develop your teaching skills within a supportive, dedicated and enthusiastic team. Staff within each year group and key stage work together on planning and lesson delivery. Teachers have PPA together on a Friday afternoon to support discussion and exchange of ideas. As a large school we can offer opportunities for progression to middle leadership. Our Senior Leadership Team is committed to improvement and along with our active governing body and welcoming, enthusiastic children; we invite you to join us to create a fantastic future for Greenleas School.

We encourage applicants to visit the school.

Further details about the role

Interviews Tuesday 2nd May, reserve date 4th May.

We are committed to providing children with a high-quality education in a secure and nurturing setting. Our inspiring curriculum and dedication to providing quality learning outcomes enables all pupils to experience “Excellence, Enrichment and Enjoyment” and to achieve their best. We aim to prepare our young pupils for life in a rapidly changing society where they will need a high level of self-esteem and confidence, a positive attitude towards learning, good communication skills and a thoughtful approach to citizenship. Everyone at Greenleas is respected and valued and there is equal opportunity for all. The school is relaxed and happy but we expect and achieve high standards. Discipline is based upon care for each other and positive reinforcement. Pupils contribute to shaping the school ethos through the School Council and achievements are shared and celebrated.

Professional development of staff is a priority and often achieved through a whole school approach where staff train, work and learn together. There is a culture of self-evaluation with all staff involved in school improvement. Greenleas enjoys support and effective challenge from an engaged and committed Governing Body and there are strong links with the local learning community (27 schools) and particularly with the middle schools to ensure a smooth transition for pupils moving from Year 4 to Year 5. The active PTA organises social and fund raising events several times a year and supports the work of the school in many different ways. Parents work in partnership with the school and provide many forms of help.

Commitment to safeguarding

Greenleas School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. We will carry out enhanced DBS checks where necessary on all staff and take references. Please note that online searches are undertaken as part of the safer recruitment process.

Central Bedfordshire Council Schools are equal opportunities employers and welcome applications from all members of the community.

Please advise us if you have a disability, learning difficulties, medical conditions or needs for which you would like us to make reasonable adjustments so that your application and working experience is more accessible.
