Holy Name belongs to the Catholic Federation of Holy Name and Our Lady's Primary School. Holy Name is currently an outstanding one form entry Catholic Primary School serving the Inner-City parishes of Our Lady’s and St Alphonsus. Holy Name is located in Moss Side. Holy Name is a very diverse school with 30% baptised Catholic children, which is increasing due to intake of international new arrivals from India. 97% of children are from ethnic minority backgrounds and 60% have English as an additional language. There are over 32 languages other than English represented in our school. 34% of the school population qualify for free school meals.
14% of our school population have Special Educational Needs above the National Average.
Holy Name RC was identified by the Local Authority and Diocese as having strong structures in place for Leadership and Management and as a result the Head was asked to serve as an Executive Headteacher overseeing Our Lady’s RC Primary, Whalley Range which went into Special Measures in April 2014. During this time the deputies of both schools took up the role of Head of School. By June 2015 Our Lady’s RC was graded by OFSTED as good in all areas and continued to be judged as good in July 2019. As this arrangement had been so successful for both schools the Governors, Local Authority and Diocese supported the proposal to federate. The Roman Catholic Federation of Holy Name and Our Lady’s Primary Schools began in January 2019.
