Teacher of Latin job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working and highly motivated Classics teacher, with the ability to teach both Latin up to A-level and Ancient History up to GCSE. Both subjects are offered to a smaller number of students, but we aim every year to increase the uptake and offer to all students the opportunity to experience something unique for the state sector.

The Teacher of Classics will teach students from KS3 to KS4 and contribute to all aspects of the Classics department’s work, both inside and outside the classroom. The ability to teach any other subject from the ‘Classics’ realm in KS5 is essential.

We also collaborate on a constant basis with our Federation Classics consultant and get support from the local Harris schools in order to expand further the study of Classics. The school’s vision is to offer this subject up to A level and, therefore, you will be given the opportunity to take part in the pilot stage of Latin A level to our new sixth form opening in September 2023.

We are happy to accept applications from teachers at any stage in their career: teachers with the ambition to train to become Lead Practitioners; NQTs; or those looking to experience an outstanding environment where they can focus on teaching.
