What skills and experience we're looking for
We are now looking to appoint an excellent Teacher of Law who is passionate about their subject area and able toinspire all students to reach their full potential, to join our successful team.
1. Qualified teacher status
2. ECT status or currently working towards ECT status
3. Graduate
4. PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
(or working towards)
EXPERIENCE
1. Secondary teaching or secondary teaching practice experience
2. To have been a tutor or supported the work of a tutor
3. To have taught the subject at KS5 across whole ability range
KNOWLEDGE
1. Ability to use the principles of assessment to promote learning
2. An understanding of how data can be used to enable all students to achieve their fullest potential
3. Understand how to improve student achievement through well-structured, inspiring teaching, monitoring attainment, target setting and mentoring students.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Ability to plan a scheme of work linked to programmes of study
2. Good oral and written skills
3. Be equally literate and numerate, including in the use of ICT
4. Ability to employ and contribute to the development of a range of teaching and learning styles.
5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
6. Ability to manage student behaviour firmly, effectively, positively, commanding respect from students, staff and parents.
7. Willingness to contribute to our wide extra-curricularenrichment programme.

The King Edward VI Foundation, Birmingham, is a progressive charitable organisation which has supported excellence in education across the City since 1552. Our schools are diverse in nature but have a common purpose and commitment to achieving our mission of “making Birmingham the best place to be educated in the UK”.
Our Academy Trust currently consists of two independent schools, six selective, and six non selective academies. Our recent expansion into a wider diversity of local communities is enabling us to accelerate our strategies for improving the life chances of young people in Birmingham, whatever their background.
The King Edward VI Academy Trust Birmingham (“the Academy Trust”) was established in 2017 and is made up of the academies outlined above. The academies receive back office central support services including governance, from the Foundation Office (a central support services function), with several staff being seconded from the Foundation to deliver support services to the Academy Trust and the academies themselves.
Our highly focused five-year strategy aims to build on our existing strengths and heritage and deliver our ambitious growth strategy which aims to bring in a further five academies over the next five years.
