What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a full-time dynamic, innovative and inspirational teacher with high expectations and a record of getting the best from students to teach Law at St Thomas More Catholic Academy to teach across the 11-18 mixed ability range. A secondary subject of History, Social Sciences, Business Studies or Mathematics would be advantageous. We are looking to secure someone with drive, energy, and a genuine passion for teaching Law.

Particular Activities

  • To role model excellent standards of teaching and learning.
  • To remain up to date with research and latest developments in the subject area, using this to improve the curriculum and drive up the standards of teaching and learning in the department.
  • To support subject leader to continue to develop the curriculum intent, including sequencing, schemes of learning and wider school links.
  • To support the effective monitoring of and making improvements to the department curriculum implementation, including teaching and learning pedagogy and assessment practice.
  • To lead the literacy curriculum across the school including form time sessions, interventions and wider curriculum links to other departments.
  • To support the Continual Professional Development (CPD) of any department staff, including through demonstration lessons, observations and mentoring of Early Career Teachers.
  • To peer coach colleagues across the department and wider school to ensure high quality teaching.
  • To contribute to the department and whole school CPD based on the most relevant research.
  • To collaborate with external partners
  • To support the subject leader in appraisal of department staff.

  • Expected level of practice and professional responsibilities as defined by the Teacher Standards
  • Ability to support others to improve their teaching
