Teacher of Mathematics and Science job summary
Chulmleigh Community College is a high performing, ambitious college well known for exemplary behaviour and conduct. This is a school where students want to learn and teachers focus upon high quality teaching.
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, talented and inspiring classroom practitioner to teach Mathematics and elements of Science across all ability groups in KS3 and KS4. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and the ability to inspire and motivate our ambitious and hardworking students. Our timetable preference would best accommodate a Maths specialist who is able to teach Science, but we would welcome applications from all interested Maths and Science teachers.
This is a full time role suitable for an experienced teacher or a highly motivated newly qualified teacher wishing to join a team of specialists committed to high standard of teaching, learning and achievement.
This post is available from September 2020 and is partly in response to increased provision.
In February 2018, an Ofsted inspection confirmed we were a Good College where pupils consistently make exceptional progress. GCSE results, including Maths and Science, at the College are consistently outstanding.
The school was the only mainstream secondary school in the county to ever achieve an EBacc APS above 5 and we have done this for the last two years and anticipate the same for the next two. We are unable to find another mainstream school in the South West of England that performs better on the rigorous EBacc measure. We estimate our students in the June 2019 examinations have achieved + 0.5 P8 success. The headline measure of the proportion of pupils achieving grade 4 or above at GCSE in both English and Maths was 76% and grade 5 or above was 58%.
