Located in Chelmsford, Essex, Chelmsford County High School for Girls is a selective grammar school for girls aged 11-18. Founded in 1906, it currently has around 900 students.
In early 2011, Chelmsford County High School for Girls converted to academy status. It has seen extensive expansion and development over the years, and recently established a new languages centre.
Chelmsford County High School for Girls has a wide catchment area and high standards for entry. The school does not produce an in-house entrance exam for prospective Year 7 students, instead using the CEM test also in use by a number of other grammar schools. CCHS accepts new entrants to its Sixth Form, with the admissions criteria here being based on GCSE results.
The secondary school has a strong reputation for academic excellence. It maintains this by providing its students with not only a high-quality core curriculum, but also a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
