The City of Norwich School – An Ormiston Academy (CNS) is a vibrant, forward thinking Academy, rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED, with high expectations for all its staff and students. We offer a broad and well-designed curriculum, teachers have strong subject knowledge and students with additional needs receive strong support. The KS5 curriculum ensures students learn what they need to be successful in their next stage and develop deep knowledge about their subjects beyond the remit of the formal examinations.
In the recent OFSTED report staff praised the collaborative culture of the school and students are proud to be a part of the CNS community. We are also the EDP Secondary School of the Year.
An opportunity has arisen for a committed and conscientious individual who would like to contribute to the success of our school by joining our team as a Teacher of Maths. This role is suitable for ECTs or those seeking leadership development and responsibilities and offers opportunities to teach at KS3, KS4 and KS5, including Core Maths and Further Maths . For more information about our leadership development please visit https://cns-school.org/case-studies.
Maths is a large faculty with 15 members, most with their own classrooms. We have a wide spread of ages and experiences across the faculty, with everyone bringing something unique to the team. Maths is very popular in Sixth Form, with one of the largest cohorts of students studying GCE maths. To cater for this popularity, we have four different GCE classes in Yr. 12, and four in Yr. 13, so there is plenty of opportunity for everyone to get some GCE teaching. We also have separate GCE Further Maths groups in both Yr. 12 & Yr. 13. This builds upon our GCSE Further Maths classes that we run after school in Yr. 10 and Yr. 11, both of which are highly successfully and oversubscribed. We are also developing and extending our Core Maths provision with Yr. 12 and Yr. 13 students studying the qualification. Beyond the classroom students also have opportunities to take part in all the UKMT national and regional Maths competitions, as individuals and as part of teams. CNS regularly hosts several of the regional finals for the Team competitions throughout the year.

We offer:

an induction programme to ensure you are equipped to fulfil the role
a review and development process
strong continued professional development to enhance subject knowledge
