This role is an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to join a rapidly growing Secondary School with strong moral purpose. There may be an opportunity for the successful candidate to teach some ICT depending on qualifications. If you love your subject and are passionate about developing your pedagogy and practice to inspire the pupils in your care, then this is a fantastic opportunity for you.

Filey Secondary School

Filey School is a vibrant place to learn and as soon as you enter the door you know you belong to something special. We are a community centred school who focus on doing our utmost to ensure students and staff fulfil their potential. As a small but rapidly growing school, we pride ourselves on fostering a family feel and on knowing our students really well, which we believe is key to unlocking the potential. The school site is situated in an idyllic part of North Yorkshire Coast between Scarborough and Bridlington and boasts extensive grounds and outdoor spaces. This is a genuinely exciting time to join our school as we embark on a new strategic partnership with The Education Exchange to “drive achievement, address disadvantage and raise aspirations of the children and community we serve”.

We are extremely proud of our school and students and would encourage you to visit us; as Headteacher I would be delighted to give you a personal tour of our school for you to experience the warmth and enthusiasm shared within our school community, to meet our incredible students and experience for yourself the calm and purposeful learning environment here.

At Filey school, we place learning at the centre of everything we do. We know that high academic achievement is instrumental to our students’ life chances and celebrate ‘successful students’ at every opportunity. We believe in rewarding pupils for good attendance, achievement and behaviour and run numerous celebration events throughout the year including “Proud Thursdays”. We are keen to teach our young people the importance of leadership and our student ambassadors and school council members play an active role within our school community. Engagement with helping others is important to us and we always look forward to our highly celebrated traditional end of year whole school sponsored walk to raise funds for local charities.

We understand the importance of enrichment activities and encourage all staff to share their passions and skills via enrichment clubs and activities alongside a host of academic support and intervention classes. We have an ever-increasing number of visits scheduled for the next academic year and encourage our staff to participate in opportunities to educate our young people outside of the classroom.

At Filey school we understand that our students can ‘be the best they can be’ when they feel happy, valued, challenged and supported to achieve their very best. We believe this also applies to our staff. We are passionate about giving colleagues the chance to develop and progress their careers and therefore offer an extensive range of opportunities, incentives and benefits within this post including:
