What skills and experience we're looking for

The successful applicant will be working in an experienced and busy department of six staff;

five full time and one part time. The team includes the Head of Maths, Deputy of Maths and

Sparx Coordinator. Outcomes in Mathematics have been consistently high over recent years

and we are looking to continue this trend. The Maths department teaches across the whole

age range for Year 7 to Year 13. We offer qualifications for GCSE Mathematics, GCSE Statistics,

Level 3 Core Mathematics and A Level Mathematics.

The mathematics curriculum provision is both appropriate and generous, providing good

opportunities for students to excel within the subject. Uptake and outcomes at Post 16 reflects

the quality and dedication of the teaching staff and the grounding the curriculum provides to

students in the formative years within Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

Students in KS3 currently have seven 55 minute lessons per fortnight. We track students

regularly and set across half year groups in Year 7 and 8 and fully across Year 9. Each year

group from Year 7 onwards has five Mathematics sets.

In Years 10 and 11 all students have eight 55 minute lessons per fortnight. We track students

regularly and set across each year group. We currently teach the Edexcel GCSE specification.

Students in the top set in Year 10 are offered the opportunity of studying GCSE Statistics for two

hours per fortnight over two years.

Students in the sixth form have four 55 minute lessons per fortnight for Level 3 Core Maths and

eight 55 minute lessons per fortnight for A Level Mathematics. We currently follow the AQA and

Edexcel specifications respectively. Core Maths is completed in one year.
