Teacher of Maths job summary
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspiring teacher who is passionate about learning and teaching in Mathematics. We would welcome applications from ECT’s as well as those with experience.
The Mathematics department is very successful and takes a leading role in developing change across the school, given the faculty’s outstanding track record. We are looking for someone to contribute to this success; someone who will actively participate within the department and further enrich our pupils’ experiences within mathematics.
The successful candidate will teach across the age and attainment range at both key stage 3 and 4.
We will be strongly committed to your professional learning. As a member of the school staff you will have access to our staff benefits programme. Our ECT Induction programme has been recognised as one of the best programmes within Hampshire.
Mathematics is a leading department within the school and members of the team work closely to support a number of schools, both at the primary and secondary education level. With a robust pupil premium intervention team, slightly smaller class sizes and our links with the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), pupil performance has been consistently excellent at both key stages for a number of years. In 2019, the last year to have external examinations, 80% attained at least a grade 4 at GCSE level, 61% attained at least a grade 5 and 27% attained at least a grade 7, all significantly above national average.
The school has recently become a PFEG Centre of Excellence in Financial Education due to the collaborative work between all of the faculties within the school, led by the maths department.
Department staff also play a wider role in the school and community and have been instrumental in the School Fair, Ski Trip, F1 for Schools programme, Enterprise Project, Duke of Edinburgh Award and our Romsey to Kenya project, as well as after school Mathematics clinics, revision workshops and teaching of our IGCSE Further Maths course.
The Romsey School is a high attaining and oversubscribed school, committed to high quality inclusive education.
