What skills and experience we're looking for
Mangotsfield School is excited to be recruiting for a Maths Teacher from September 2025 to join our ambitious, collaborative faculty. We would like to hear from candidates looking for both part time and full time positions. This position would be suitable for an ECT: we have an exceptional focus on staff development and can offer support and guidance throughout the first couple of years of your teaching career. If you are further along in your teaching journey, we’d still love to hear from you!
This role is permanent and will initially be working as a member of the Maths department at Mangotsfield School to cover the maternity leave of one of our teachers. Following the conclusion of the maternity cover, you may be asked to move across to another one of our family of secondary schools within our Trust, depending on business needs. Details of all of our schools can be found on our CSET website.
About the Role
The Maths department has an ambitious, well sequenced and knowledge-led curriculum which both supports and challenges students throughout. We have based this largely on the White Rose Maths scheme of learning for KS3, adapting and developing these resources to ensure they fit the needs of our students. Diagnostic questions, deliberate practice and worked examples are embedded throughout our schemes of work. We have a bank of central lesson resources which support our staff with planning, foster collaboration and help embed consistency through the department.
We pride ourselves on our CPD support, both at school and Trust level. We also have a central Trust education team who support and deliver high quality training. In addition, we deliver comprehensive ECT induction in association with the Five Counties Teaching Schools Hubs Alliance and Ambition Institute.

Everything at Mangotsfield School is based around its school
values driven by Headteacher, Hetty Blackmore. Having first
joined the school as a newly qualified teacher when she was
23 years old and returned to lead it later in her career, she is
very proud of the journey the school is on.
Mangotsfield School is proud to serve its community and has
been part of the local community since 1957. They have just
celebrated being rated as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted (visit
March 2022).
There are wonderful resources and facilities on site, allowing
students to embrace curricular and extra-curricular
challenges from DT, art, dance, drama and a climbing wall to
name a few. There is a lot of open space, which is green and
calm. And this sense of calm is echoed in the school itself.
The school has a proud sporting history and teams have
travelled as far as Wembley to take part in national
competitions. The school is also on a mission to broaden
horizons with many co-curricular trips taking place, such as a
Year 7 trip to Slimbridge Wetlands for art research and a
Year 8 trip to Tyntesfield House to explore gothic horror
within the English curriculum.
