About the role: Strood Academy has two exciting opportunities to appoint talented Teachers of Maths to join us for September 2020. Our Maths department is highly successful, comprised of 15 staff offering a wealth of knowledge and broad skill-set between them. With responsibility for teaching across all three key stages across the academy (dependent on experience and subject knowledge), our successful practitioners will be joining a committed team of experienced and newly qualified teachers, and also be in receipt of incredibly strong and positive leadership of the faculty. We deem this to be a fantastic role and one that will enable you to work within the wider Trust and collaborate with teaching professionals in a variety of our academies. This is a full time, permanent position. We can offer the opportunity to join a school that offers significant support for staff internally, and also benefit from support from the wider Trust on the new curriculum and raising standards. The induction day will be held on the 27th August 2020.
Our Key stage 3 classes are taught using an innovative Maths Mastery method. This is alongside the IB MYP in order to develop a deep and broad Mathematical understanding within our students in preparation for their GCSE studies, which commence in Year 9. We invest heavily so that staff have ongoing access to weekly high-quality professional development and a curriculum focused on developing conceptual understanding. Our curriculum is underpinned by research on task design, variation theory, concept development and raising achievement. Full training will be available to the successful candidate.

Working for Strood Academy: Since opening in 2009, our academy has transformed the educational opportunities and outcomes for girls and boys in Strood. The improvement in academic performance has been driven by a talented and committed workforce, the hard work of our students, and support from parents and our community. Our new buildings in Carnation Road were designed in partnership with Nicholas Hare and built by BAM as our main contractor at a cost of £26m. Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of September 2019, our Trust is comprised of 25 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 13 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. We also have three further academies in development phase, due to open between September 2020-2021.
