Teacher of Maths job summary
The Maths Faculty at Cottenham Village College is driven by the conviction that all students are entitled to develop a secure mastery of, and enthusiasm for, mathematics; we strive to foster a love of mathematics learning that will continue both in and outside of the classroom. We have high expectations for the pupils we teach, and our curriculum is carefully structured over five years, allowing for pupils to develop deep and secure learning that leads to highly successful outcomes. The department regularly achieves some of the highest results in the country and pupils make excellent progress as a result of expert teaching. You will be working with a highly-skilled team of maths teachers in a well-resourced department. As a school and a department, we offer high-quality, subject-specific professional development supported by a collaborative team of teachers and strong leadership.
We wish to appoint a full-time teacher, on a fixed-term 1-year contract, who will be required to teach maths to the full ability range across Years 7-11. This position would be ideal for an early career teacher. If you join us as a newly- or recently-qualified teacher then you will be provided with a supportive and friendly environment in which to begin your career, with a full induction programme; you will have also additional time for your training and development, working with a trained mentor. The department has considerable experience in supporting the development of teachers and draws on the best practice inside and outside the school to do so.
Commitment to safeguarding
Astrea Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and staff. Every child should feel safe and should be protected from any form of child abuse. We have robust policies and procedures that support our commitment to Safeguarding, this includes our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy. The in-house Safeguarding teams at each Academy work in partnership with families and safeguarding partners to ensure the safety of children is paramount. We are committed to ensuring that all staff access regular, contextual safeguarding training to meet the needs of the local community.
