Required for September 2021

At Ebor Academy Filey we offer an exciting career choice and a real opportunity for giving ambitious teachers and leaders the chance to influence our school and its community for the better.

We are part of the North Yorkshire Opportunity Area that is prioritising improvements to education and numeracy and literacy outcomes, alongside a drive to recruit and retain high-quality, motivated teachers to the area. Teachers on the North Yorkshire Coast will have unique opportunities to engage in additional professional and leadership development through this programme, as well as access to fully-funded national professional qualifications.

Ebor Academy Filey is a vibrant, successful 11-16 Academy and proud to serve the coastal communities around Filey. Over the last two years our school has been transformed under solid and sustained leadership.
Many of our staff commute from both within the East Riding, North Yorkshire and across our coastal communities. As an inclusive school we have the highest aspiration for our students to achieve their very best and grow as individuals and as members of their community.

Staff development, creating a climate of independent learning and embedding a culture where teachers and support professionals can thrive and take risks with teaching and learning are all very much part of our school.

Our opportunity

As a result of internal reorganisation we are looking to appoint an additional Maths colleague to our maths department which is fully staffed with subject experts. In September 2020 we welcomed our new Head of Department who relocated from Derbyshire. This is what she had to say about our school.

‘I absolutely love it! It is a small coastal school, with a ‘family’ feel about it, similar to the schools I worked at in Devon. I’ve been made to feel very welcome, working as part of the SLT, who are some of the nicest, most hard-working people that I’ve ever met. They are so committed to the well-being of the students in the school.
But not just the students, this is a school where the Headteacher genuinely cares about the well-being of his staff. It is so refreshing.’

Both Early Career Teachers (NQT’s) and experienced colleagues are welcome to apply – what goes without saying is that we will support you, develop you and above all welcome you into our aspirational school.

A smaller school provides you with an opportunity to really get you know each and every student, which has created the feeling of a ‘Filey family and we are proud that many staff have been put through a national professional qualification. The Maths department benefits from Lead Practitioners, core subjects specialists and involvement through the Ebor Hope Teaching Alliance.

We are looking for a Teacher of Maths who:

• Is passionate about teaching and has a creative and flexible approach for all key stages.
• Will model best practice teaching and learning across the department and support the development of quality teaching in the department.
• Will support, challenge and engage a diverse cohort of students, enriching their learning experience, maximising their potential and raising attainment
• Will play a key role in leading aspects of faculty CPD.

What we offer:

• A regular and bespoke CPD programme as soon as you are appointed.
• We do not grade observations; we believe that trusting our teachers with autonomy to improve creates a strong, vibrant staff culture.
• A knowledge-based curriculum in which teachers are encouraged to teach without constraint.
• Benefits package through our Trust

In the last three years over 20 staff have been put through a national professional qualification and departments benefits from Lead Practitioners, core subject specialists and involvement through the Ebor Hope Teaching Alliance.

Join our team and build a wonderful career in a school and Trust you are passionate about with students you love to help learn. To arrange a visit please contact James on the details below.
