Our opportunity

As a result of internal reorganisation we are looking to appoint an additional Maths colleague to our maths department which is fully staffed with subject experts. In September 2020 we welcomed our new Head of Department who relocated from Derbyshire. This is what she had to say about our school.

We are looking for a Teacher of Maths who:

• Is passionate about teaching and has a creative and flexible approach for all key stages.
• Will model best practice teaching and learning across the department and support the development of quality teaching in the department.
• Will support, challenge and engage a diverse cohort of students, enriching their learning experience, maximising their potential and raising attainment
• Will play a key role in leading aspects of faculty CPD.

n 2015, when it was Filey School, Ofsted inspectors categorised as needing ‘Special Measures’, which meant ‘Inadequate’. I am pleased to tell you that the most recent inspection report in May 2018 shows our school is no longer Special Measures. It continues require improvement, but heading right direction. Many changes for better have been introduced since taken over by Ebor Academy Trust 2015. We know there some way still go and we will implement inspectors’ constructive comments. As expected, found safeguarding practices effective robust students said they “felt safe”. Students also reported little bullying “no place prejudice discrimination.” Improvements proportion of leaving with more good GCSEs recognised, particular strong progress being made English Maths. The acknowledges “good provision developing students’ literacy skills promoting reading” impact accelerated reading programme deployed Years 7 8. In September were delighted appoint Terry Cartmail Headteacher. It’s important all candidates considering applying a position here, understand school’s context.
