Teacher of Maths job summary

We are:

A lively and purposeful co-educational, comprehensive state boarding school for children aged 7 to 18 years, with approximately 670 flexi-boarders and 430 full boarders. The school is a popular choice for local families who attend on our flexi boarding package, as well as for full boarders from further afield in the UK and internationally. This is due to a wide range of factors including our facilities, academic pathways and results, pastoral care, the boarding and flexi-boarding ethos and environment, wide range of trips and co-curricular activities and the resultant attitudes of its pupils.

We offer:

·        Professional, supportive and committed staff team

·        Beautiful estate set in 260 acres of parkland

·        Convenient location, close to the A23 and M25

·        Free on-site parking

We are looking for an exceptional Teacher of Mathematics who can provide highly effective and innovative teaching of Mathematics across the senior school, to ensure that all our pupils make excellent progress and inspire students to have a passion for the subject. We are open to full time, part time or flexible working hours.

The Mathematics department has a very strong team ethos and has 6 classrooms with 2 staff preparatory rooms. There is a very good ethos of cooperative and supportive working as part of a team and there is excellent organisation between teaching and support staff.

Teachers are keen to develop still further the academic successes which have been gained by the pupils right across the ability range. At key Stage 3 the department implemented White Rose Maths to help build on the skills pupils acquired during Key Stage 2. In our recent Ofsted report the school was commended on ‘working to improve curriculum plans across a broad range of subjects on offer’.

There are two A Level classes in both Year 12 & Year 13. We also have a number of pupils studying Further Mathematics A level with 6+ pupils already interested for pursuing this next year.

Mathematics GCSE results are significantly above the National average with typically over 80% achieving grades 4+. This is further reflected in excellent outcomes at A level where we have a good number of pupils going on to study STEM related degrees.

The successful candidate will be:

• Passionate about the teaching of Mathematics

• An excellent practitioner

• Enthusiastic about his/her own professional development

The school reserves the right to appoint prior to the closing date.
