Full Time Teacher of Maths MPS/UPS
Permanent contract from SEPTEMBER 2025
We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Maths to add to the capacity of our Maths team. Our school continues to grow and we are looking to further improve the Teaching & Learning experience of all by reducing class sizes in Maths. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a track record of supporting students to ensure that they make excellent progress.
We are looking for a candidate who is:
- An inspirational teacher with high expectations of students and themselves, who is determined to secure good outcomes for students.
- Able to teach maths to KS3 and GCSE.
- If possible, has A level experience.
- A belief that all pupils can succeed at mathematics
- Willing to generously give their time outside of lessons to students and colleagues.
- Actively supportive of the learning culture and values of the school.
- Committed to their professional development
- Resilient, has presence, boundless energy and a good sense of humour.
Continued professional development is strong within the Maths team, with a shared CPD and collaborative planning period on the timetable. The Head of Department is passionate about developing a Teaching for Mastery approach across the department and she is currently training to be a Local Leader of Maths Education through the Cheshire & Wirral Maths Hub. You will be supported to develop and improve as an individual and as part of the Maths team with CPD provided both in school and through the maths hub.
The Maths Department is housed in a block shared with the English Department with 11 classrooms and an office space. Staffing currently stands at 9 full-time posts and 2 part time posts. Many teachers contribute to the teaching of A-level, with appropriate training in place.
The department have developed their own Teaching for Mastery 5-year Scheme of Learning designed to give pupils an appreciation of the power of mathematics whilst allowing students to develop skills in both problem-solving and mathematics so that they can solve real-world problems. This is support by resources collaboratively planned and it has also been mapped to the While Rose Maths Scheme of Work to provide additional support and resources. At Key Stage 4, we follow the Edexcel GCSE specification, students also have the opportunity to take the GCSE in statistics.
