This is an exciting opportunity to teach in one of the highest achieving schools in Bristol teaching mathematics across all year groups. We provide strong pastoral support and monitoring but also encourage independence in learning and study habits. Redland Green School is a very special place to work, and we are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our experienced team.
The Mathematics department at Redland Green School currently consists of 13 members of staff. Students in Key Stages 3 and 4 are set according to mathematical ability and we teach in half-year groups. As part of the North Bristol Post-16 centre, Redland Green currently teach 7 ‘A’ level groups including a large and thriving further mathematics class. Lessons are planned and delivered using a wide variety of teaching and learning styles, making good use of ICT. The department’s schemes of work are planned in a highly collaborative way and make good use of resources such as Geogebra and Desmos.
Within Mathematics lessons the pace of learning is high; the students are strongly motivated, cooperative and engaged with their learning. As a result, we are very pleased with the attainment and progress of our students. In our most recent external examinations: 41% of year 11 students gained a 9-7 and 92% gained 9-4 in Mathematics and at A level 86% of students gained A*-C. As an indication of the mathematical ability of Redland Green students, it is usual that each year when we sit the UKMT Maths Challenges, a number of students will progress through to the invitation only rounds of the competitions.

Staff wellbeing and work life balance is very important to us and we work hard to ensure that this is a high priority throughout the school. For example, we offer staff one term a year where they may leave at lunchtime on a Wednesday.

Our house system provides individual care, support, and guidance. While our excellent co-curricular provision offers a weekly afternoon of Enrichment opportunities for all students, as well as sporting and musical opportunities and international trips. As an inclusive school we have a high number of students with statements of special educational needs and enjoy an effective co-located partnership with Claremont School to the benefit of students from both schools.
We are committed to building a professional and vibrant learning community where every member of staff sees themselves as a learner and contributes to the continued development of the school. We are looking for highly motivated staff members who have the creative energy to make the most of the opportunities available, as well as the resilience to cope with the challenges of working in teams and creating the very best climate for learning for our young people.
