Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st January 2019, our Trust is comprised of 23 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 11 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. We also have three further academies in development phase, due to open in September 2020. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school.

Teacher of MFL (French) job summary

About the role: If you are an ambitious and enthusiastic Teacher of Languages we have a truly unique and exciting opportunity to join a successful, over-subscribed academy offering excellent career development programmes. We are looking for an MFL Teacher to join our team to deliver French from Key Stage 3 to 5 from September 2019; the ability to also offer Spanish is a bonus but not essential.

Longfield Academy is part of the DfE MFL Hub project led by Rachel Hawkes and her team at the University of York and in partnership with the NCELP (National Centre for Excellence in Language Pedagogy), along with three other academies in the Leigh Academies Trust. Working with us provides you with access to high quality, ready to use CPD in your classroom and to take part in a national project on practice and research, which has the aim of raising GCSE uptake. This initiative offers superb career development.

We also have scope for our successful candidate to work across the academy with responsibility for co-ordinating the IB Middle Years Programme, receiving a TLR of £2,887 for this role. This opportunity is like no other, and if you’re an exceptional Languages practitioner, we want to hear from you.
