What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an exceptional, enthusiastic and committed MFL teacher to join our successful and ambitious department. The ability to offer French, at least to Key Stage 3 would be an advantage, but is not essential.

This new vacancy has arisen as the current Head of Department has been appointed to co-lead on the new DfE Languages Hub programme.

This post, at a school with languages as a core subject and a strong A-level take up, is a great opportunity to be part of a talented and committed staff.

  • Someone who will inspire pupils and the staff they work with and build strong relationships with our parents, carers and community partners.
  • Has experience of teaching languages in a secondary school (as a teacher or as student teacher),
  • Can establish good relationships with, motivate and inspire young people, and who shows the potential and commitment to become an outstanding teacher,
  • Is a flexible and perceptive classroom practitioner who can engage students across the age and ability range and enable all to learn, enjoy and make progress,
  • Is committed to professional development and becoming the best that they can be, and who has good interpersonal skills.

We are very proud of our school, which attracts students from across Greater Manchester and beyond. It first opened in 1834. Our founder, Thomas Henshaw, was a committed Anglican who left a bequest to fund a school which would provide education for the orphaned boys of the parish.
