Main Scale
Required for September 2020
(full-time permanent post)
Longbenton is a successful 11-18 school looking to appoint a teacher of Modern Foreign Languages from September 2020. These are exciting times for us as a school and a really good opportunity for someone to join us at a key point in our development and be part of something innovative, challenging and rewarding at a school that is inclusive, comprehensive in its intake and a focal point of the local community.
If successful, you will be joining a committed team of professionals, who are raising standards and determined to develop the quality of teaching and curriculum in the department and improve learning outcomes for all learners. This is an important appointment for our school, the main responsibilities for which are set out in the applicant’s pack, which you will find on our school website, www.longbenton.org.uk.
The successful candidate will be required to teach French across the age and ability range of KS3 as well as either French or Spanish in KS4. The potential to be able to teach French or Spanish at KS5 would be an advantage. Above all, we are looking for someone who is, or has the potential to be, an excellent teacher. In return, you will work in a very supportive environment with pupils who want to learn and a staff who are keen to collaborate and develop their practice.
The MFL Department at Longbenton is very much a rapidly improving team with new leadership and a great place to develop your pedagogy. We run many successful extra-curricular events, and as such we expect the successful candidate to get involved in the whole life of the school. Longbenton offers the successful candidate a whole-hearted commitment to professional learning that places individual development at the heart of its ethos.
Closing date for receipt of applications is 11am on Monday 9 March 2020.
Longbenton is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
