What skills and experience we're looking for

Leigh Academy Blackheath is seeking to appoint an outstanding highly motivated, innovative and well-qualified Teacher of MFL to join our language acquisition team form September 2024. Our successful candidate will be able to successfully teach French and Spanish and the ability to teach German is also desirable. This is a fixed term, part-time contract for a duration of 9 to 12 months to cover the post holder whilst they are on maternity leave. The successful candidate will collaborate in the planning and delivery of a well-sequenced curriculum to ensure both teaching and outcomes in MFL remain excellent. There is a very experienced team of staff in place who are very supportive and keen to work collaboratively.

We believe that every learner is entitled to an enriching, varied and personalised education: delivered through a broad and balanced curriculum that provides challenge, irrespective of need, starting point or background. Our commitment to maximising the potential of every child, teaching them the skills they need to be successful and nurturing a desire to be a lifelong learner, will prepare them for whichever career path they choose to follow.

If you want to join a highly successful team who are passionate about research-informed education, and you can inspire learners to go beyond what they are taught and seek what they do not yet know, then we want to hear from you.

We’d like to hear from candidates who are:

  • Able to maintain a positive growth mindset despite challenges they may face;
  • Collaborative, able to build strong professional relationships;
  • Able to motivate and inspire students and staff to achieve their full potential;
  • Energetic and have a can-do attitude;
  • Confident and has strong career aspirations;
  • Committed to safeguarding and the happiness and wellbeing of everyone at the Academy;
  • Prepared to be involved in leading co-curricular activities either within or outside of their teaching subject;
  • Confident in delivering lessons with strong knowledge of the Languages curriculum;
  • Experienced in teaching the IB diploma
  • Engaged in evidence-informed pedagogy and relentlessly focused on improving their own practice;
  • Passionate about their own personal leadership and subject knowledge.
