Required for September 2020, an excellent practitioner to be a member of our expanding and highly successful MFL Faculty.
This is an exciting time to join Matthew Moss, a school with a reputation for providing excellent continuing professional development and innovative practice. Matthew Moss High School is a growing school with a “Good” Ofsted judgement.
The Modern Languages Faculty is made up of 5 members of staff and we currently teach French in KS3 using the Michel Thomas method of language learning. In each module, we present learners with new grammatical structures and language, to develop a good understanding of language learning. We supplement the Michel Thomas course with topics throughout KS3. Our learners study French for 4 lessons a week in Year 7 and Year 8, and for 3 lessons in Year 9. We are looking to introduce Spanish from September 2020, again using the Michel Thomas course as a foundation for learning.
In Year 10 learners start GCSE and we follow the AQA specification . At KS4, we currently have an allocation of 3 lessons a week. We use the AQA GCSE Foundation and Higher textbooks and Kerboodle, alongside our own resources.
The successful candidate will be a committed and enthusiastic teacher of both French and Spanish, who is able to teach to GCSE level across the age and ability range. We are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner who is able to employ a range of teaching styles and promote languages for all.
As an established growing faculty, we look forward to welcoming a team player who will build and maintain positive relationships with both staff and our learners. We value positive contributions to collaborative lesson planning, the development of the Spanish curriculum and promotion of visits / extra curricular activities. We believe in an innovative approach in the classroom and that demonstrating a real passion for languages will continue to raise the achievement and confidence of our learners. As a faculty we are well resourced with ipads and three PC suites, therefore an interest in both using and developing ICT effectively is essential.
The latest Ofsted report highlighted that “relationships between staff and pupils are a real strength. Leaders and teachers know their pupils well. They provide a wide range of opportunities to enable pupils to grow in confidence and become successful learners' “. It was also highlighted that “Staff morale is high” and that “One hundred percent of staff said that professional development is used to encourage, challenge and support improvements in teaching”.
