This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who wants to make a real difference. We are seeking to appoint an innovative, enthusiastic and talented teacher to join our Modern Foreign Languages department. The successful candidate will be passionate about teaching and learning and be able to inspire our students to achieve the highest possible standards.
We offer both Spanish and French. The take up of language within the school is high with 60% of Key Stage 4 students choosing to study one or more of the languages. As well GCSE we also offer A-Level in both languages.

Caldew School is a popular, rural 11-18 mixed comprehensive school situated south of the city of Carlisle with a catchment area that extends to the fringe of the Lake District. We have 1000 pupils on roll including a Sixth Form of 160. The school is heavily over-subscribed and the roll is steady.
We have a good and improving track record of achievement at all examination levels, good resources and facilities and a rich programme of visits and extra-curricular activities.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people in everyone's responsibility at Caldew School and we take this very seriously. We adopt an approach which is child-centred. This means that all staff at Caldew School consider, at all times, what is in our students' best interests. The Safeguarding Team work within the school to ensure that all of our students are safe, happy and thriving. All staff have a duty of care to make sure students are safe and this means that information may need to be shared with other agencies and organisations to make sure that our students and their families get the best possible support.
Our Ofsted inspection in June 2022 graded Caldew as ‘good’. However, we are not complacent and we know that there are areas where we need to do better.
