Northampton International Academy is looking for an outstanding MFL teacher to join our rapidly expanding talented team of linguists in our Languages department. We are wishing to appoint and enthusiastic and passionate practitioner of Spanish to join our thriving department.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to develop whole school experience in a creative and innovative environment. Northampton International Academy is part of the East Midlands Academy Trust, it is an all through school, 4–19, and opened in September 2016. In July 2019, the academy achieved an Ofsted rating of Good.
It is a fantastic time to join NIA as it has its first Year 12 intake, as well as further groups in the primary phase and by 2021 the school will have over 2000 pupils. This will make NIA one of the largest free schools in the country.

Job Description
To ensure the greatest possible progress and development of students, through high quality teaching and learning. To challenge and support all students to achieve their best by:

Main duties:
Teach Spanish to groups of students from all abilities across years 7 – 11.
Ensure that all lessons are planned with clear aims and objectives. and ensure that all lessons are delivered in line with the departmental schemes of work and school policies.
Take into account the differing ability lessons of students and differentiate work accordingly and encourage all students to be actively engaged in their own learning and in reviewing their progress against targets.
Check that all subject matter is effectively communicated and understood by all groups of students, and set appropriate tasks and challenges for homework according ensuring that it is regularly marked with constructive feedback.
Keep records of student progress in line with departmental and school policy. ·
Keep work areas tidy and well organised.
Work with colleagues in the Modern Foreign Languages Department to formulate plans relevant to the needs of the students and attend scheduled meetings in the Modern Foreign Languages Department and school.
Help develop Modern Foreign Languages resources for the school and participate in Modern Foreign Languages events such as trips and primary liaison.
Set appropriate work for classes within Modern Foreign Languages during any periods of absence and make sure that the work is thoroughly reviewed on return.
Act as a positive role model and promote the aims, values and ethos of the school and uphold all rules and policies, carrying out the normal duties of teacher.
Participate in appropriate meetings with colleagues and parents
Undertake Performance Management and continue own personal development in accordance with the School’s Performance Management
Enforce the school’s behaviour and uniform policies on a daily basis.
Ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date information on all classes taught and take appropriate action on issues arising from data, systems and reports. Also, be able to produce reports for the department on assessment data, including examination data.
Participate in appropriate meetings effectively communicating and consulting with parents and carers of students.

The children and staff at Northampton International Academy are currently completing the opening chapters of its history. The DNA of NIA is set by our High Expectations and Global Vision and we are building into the curriculum for all year groups our Character Drivers: Collaboration, Responsibility, Respect, Care, Excellence and Aspiration. By instilling these characteristics in our learners, they will flourish both within school and beyond as they set out to create their own histories
