What skills and experience we're looking for

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an excellent practitioner to join our experienced and supportive Modern Foreign Languages team. We are seeking a specialist in German and/or French, able to teach up to A Level. The ability to teach the ‘other’ language – French or German – to students at Key Stage 3 is essential, while the ability to teach the same to GCSE would be advantageous. We welcome applications from both ECTs and more experienced teachers interested in a substantial part time (0.8) or full time position.

What the school offers its staff

Modern Foreign Languages is a valued subject within the school. Students are taught both French and German across years 7-8 before specialising in year 9 and continuing with their chosen language for GCSE in years 10 and 11. It is compulsory for almost all students to GCSE. There is also a small but sustainable uptake of languages to A Level in the Sixth Form. In addition, we offer students in the Sixth Form the opportunity to take a short course in Spanish as part of our enrichment programme. The department is well resourced, and enjoys specialist teaching rooms in a modern building. The teaching staff are supported by two Foreign Language Assistants. Collaborative working is well established, and the staff form an experienced and cohesive team.

Langley Grammar School is a co-educational 11-18 selective school with academy status, located within easy reach of Langley station and the M4.The school was inspected by Ofsted in November 2021, and was graded outstanding in all categories. We have approximately 1240 students, over 330 of whom are in the Sixth Form. The school is heavily over-subscribed and draws students from a wide geographical area and range of backgrounds. Alongside promoting excellent academic outcomes, our school ethos supports students to become confident and well rounded, independent and creative, responsible and caring. Our students are capable, hardworking and a delight to teach. We are a National Teaching School with a record of nationally recognised innovative practice, and an Apple Distinguished School in recognition of our leading-edge use of technology for learning.
