offering an exciting opportunity for an excellent practitioner to join our
experienced and supportive Modern Foreign Languages team. We are seeking a
specialist in German and/or French, able to teach up to A Level. The ability to
teach the ‘other’ language – French or German – to students at Key Stage 3 is
essential, while the ability to teach the same to GCSE would be advantageous. We
welcome applications from both ECTs and more experienced teachers interested in
a substantial part time (0.8) or full time position.
Modern Foreign Languages is a
valued subject within the school. Students are taught both French and German
across years 7-8 before specialising in year 9 and continuing with their chosen
language for GCSE in years 10 and 11. It is compulsory for almost all students
to GCSE. There is also a small but sustainable uptake of languages to A Level
in the Sixth Form. In addition, we offer students in the Sixth Form the
opportunity to take a short course in Spanish as part of our enrichment
programme. The department is well resourced, and enjoys specialist teaching
rooms in a modern building. The teaching staff are supported by two Foreign
Language Assistants. Collaborative working is well established, and the staff
form an experienced and cohesive team.
