Further details about the role

The MFL Department at Glebelands consists of three full-time specialists who work with enthusiasm and commitment as a close team. Each member of the department is expected to participate fully in the collective sharing of

ideas and building up of resources. The department follows the AQA syllabus for GCSE French and Spanish. Each member of the department is committed to providing a learning experience that enables all students to develop their skills and knowledge of French and/or Spanish as well as developing their cultural understanding.

We help Glebelands’ students to achieve the highest standards of which they are capable and to provide challenge and stimulation in the classroom by:

  • Focusing on the needs of the individual
  • Exposing students to a wide range of texts and writing opportunities
  • Producing sequences of lessons which build skills and confidence in reading, writing and spoken communication
  • Ensuring progression by careful monitoring, record keeping and use of data
  • Preparing students thoroughly for Key Stage 3 assessments and GCSE examinations
  • Effectively managing our classrooms so that students are encouraged to learn in a variety of ways
  • Using a variety of assessment methods (including peer assessment) to ensure that students

are very aware of their level of achievement and how to progress further

  • Encouraging all students to have high expectations of themselves
