Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish/French) job summary

We are currently looking to appoint a passionate and motivated MFL specialist to join our Communications Faculty. The school is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted following an inspection in April 2023. We continue to strive for excellence, both academically and personally, for our children and young people.

French and Spanish are both thriving subjects at Fitzharrys. Both are popular at GCSE, with numbers increasing each year. All students study French in Year 7, before taking up Spanish in Year 8. Students enjoy a varied curriculum with a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities to help students embed their learning. Our Languages team is enthusiastic, outward-looking, and our evidence-based approach keeps up to date with the latest research and CPD. We have strong links with other MFL departments in the local area, including state and independent schools, and with the Oxford University Department for Education.

You will be joining a well-resourced and creative department, with excellent levels of collaboration between teachers.

Fitzharrys is a school which is growing and developing rapidly. Our ethos of Aspiration, Opportunity, and Integrity are being utilised by staff and students to enhance the education we deliver. This is an exciting time to join our Trust, with the opportunity to further drive forward standards at Fitzharrys. The role offers the successful candidate a supportive and collegiate culture, ambitious professional development, and the opportunity to make a difference for the Abingdon community. This is a very special place, and we are looking for the right candidate who is excited at the prospect of joining us and taking such a key role in our continued success.

All Fitzharrys staff benefit from our induction programme and our comprehensive CPD programme as part of a school community committed to getting the best from everyone. Through our focus on high quality teaching and learning, and excellent behaviour, our school continues to grow and develop.

We are proud of our students, and in turn they are proud to be part of the Fitzharrys community. Parents are supportive of the work of the school, recognising our high aspirations for every student who attends; they are both challenged to achieve highly, and supported in doing so.

This is an exciting time to join us in our continued development. If you are committed to working with us and helping our pupils and students realise their potential, we encourage you to apply.
