Further details about the role

Students at Wadebridge study either French or Spanish at Key Stage 3. There is a consistent uptake of either one or two groups in both French and Spanish at GCSE and both the department and the school are looking to increase interest and numbers opting for MFL going forward. A bespoke curriculum is followed at Key Stage 3, resourced as appropriate from the Pearson Viva and Dynamo courses. For GCSE, the Edexcel exam is used, with the curriculum based on Studio and Viva GCSE.

The department consists of three teachers with the additional advantage of foreign language assistants for both French and Spanish, who are deployed each year by the school. These assistants work with small groups of students both inside and outside the classroom in addition to running cultural language clubs and helping with after school GCSE support.
