What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to a unique role as Teacher of Motor Vehicle Engineering and Construction. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who really wants to make a difference to the lives of young people. Our single goal is ‘Students First’ and you will be joining a strong team of professionals working to this sole aim. A Recruitment and Retention Allowance will be available for exceptional candidates.

Our vision for this exciting role is to work with students at Outwood Academy Portland, and with other academies across the trust to provide a unique experience in learning skills and gaining qualifications in motor vehicle engineering and construction (including the Built Enviroment). You will work closely with SLT colleagues to devise a programme of learning that is accessible to all students, including those who undertake learning through alternative provision.

What the school offers its staff

Whether you are ambitious for progression or determined to be an outstanding classroom teacher, Outwood Academy Portlandis the place for you. Leadership development, succession planning and capacity building are major priorities for the Trust as this enables us to facilitate rapid progression for those who want to advance either in the classroom or at a leadership level.

You will be well supported by an experienced team of teachers and senior leaders as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience that focuses on teaching for understanding.

The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, which affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. All staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through our own network of teaching schools.
