Teacher of Music (0.6 – 1.0 FTE) job summary
Since its opening in 2003 as the second 11–19 school in the now six-strong Emmanuel Schools Foundation, The King’s Academy has made exceptional provision for students in south Middlesbrough. Our vision is for each person in our schools to be valued, challenged and inspired, being ‘made in God’s image’ and therefore infinitely precious, morally responsible and gifted for a purpose.
We require, for September 2022, a passionate and highly motivated Teacher of Music with the ability to teach Music at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Previous experiences of teaching vocational qualifications, GCSE and/or A-level Music are not a requirement but would be advantageous.
The Music department currently offers vocational qualifications at levels 2 and 3 in both music performance and music technology. We will be further widening this offer to include GCSE and A-level programmes, alongside the prestigious Music In Secondary School Trust scheme, which has allowed the entirety of our year 7 cohort to learn the violin. This will roll forward with all new students benefitting from learning an instrument.
An annual musical theatre production is the highlight of King's school year, inclusively involving large numbers of students and staff. 'We Will Rock You' is already on track for November 2022.
If you believe you have the vision and commitment to work in a highly inclusive school which seeks to raise achievement, setting consistently high standards for yourself and your students, please do contact us.
