Teacher of Music (0.6 fte) job summary

We wish to appoint an innovative teacher to join our successful Music Department from September 2021. This is a part-time post working 3 days a week.

The successful candidate will be a pro-active, flexible and enthusiastic professional with the innovation and commitment to teach Music across KS3 to KS5 (GCSE Edexcel and A Level EDUQAS). You will be an experienced user of Apple Mac systems and have knowledge and skills in multi-track recording. You will also be an effective classroom teacher with the ability to raise achievement of all students along with the commitment to develop and run weekly extra-curricular activities for students.

The role will require you to team teach singing lessons to Year 7 and support accompanying in these lessons. You will contribute to whole school productions (recent productions include Sister Act, Hairspray and High School Musical).

Music is very successful at Prendergast School with a large uptake at GCSE and A Level students progressing to study Music at university. During the year there is a programme of concerts and assemblies and there is a Music scholarship for 10% of Year 7 applicants each year.

The successful candidate will be joining a very strong Creatives Faculty who enjoy working together to develop a love of learning in our students.

Applications from NQTs are also welcome as the school has a strong NQT training and support programme.

We are committed to providing excellent CPD and all new staff complete a comprehensive and supportive induction programme. The successful candidate will also have access to a rich and varied CPD programme within the school and across the Federation.

You will have the opportunity to work with a forward thinking staff and school leadership team who have students’ wellbeing, development and progress as their core purpose.
