What skills and experience we're looking for
Stationers' Crown Woods Academy are looking for an inspiringTeacher of Musicto join our growing team from September 2024. Our successful candidate will deliver high-quality learning opportunities for our students in this curriculum area. Applications are welcomed from both experienced and newly qualified teachers. We can also consider unqualified teachers with experience of classroom teaching if they are happy to progress - we can offer fantastic professional development at every stage of a teacher’s career!
Our pedagogical approach is based on the latest research and ensures that teaching is efficient and effective whilst prioritising staff wellbeing. We ask our teachers to plan for a rigorous learning experience in which knowledge is broken down into manageable chunks so as to prevent cognitive overload and allow our students to remain focused on what is important. We believe that knowledge should and needs to be taught explicitly from the front by the subject expert in the room. Working in this way allows our students to focus on the recall and activation of that knowledge and bring it to bear on conceptually focused questions. Through direct instruction, retrieval practice, low stakes testing and question level analysis in all year groups, we believe that subject gaps will be tackled as they occur and that proactively working in this manner will eliminate the need for reactive intervention in exam year groups.
The successful candidate will teach and plan classroom based lessons in all key stages. There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in enrichments and performances and cross curricular projects with art, drama and dance. We would love to welcome a new member of staff who can show enthusiasm and inspire our talented pupils.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Music
Experience of teaching GCSE
A comprehensive understanding of the research and cognitive science behind what makes effective teaching
The desire to forge strong relationships with colleagues and willingness to collaborate for the benefit of all students and staff
