About the role:

We are seeking to appoint a determined, ambitious, and inspiring Music Teacher who would like to join Barnsley Academy for a transformative year for the Music Department. We are proud to be a partner school with the Music in Secondary Schools Trust, and in September, we will be moving into our second year of the programme where students in Year 7 and 8 will be following the Andrew Lloyd Webber music curriculum.

Currently all Year 7 students are learning to play the trumpet or clarinet. Next year, our new cohort of Year 7 students will all learn to play the violin or flute, with the long-term vision to grow a school orchestra alongside other ensembles.

The successful candidate must deliver great music lessons, one to one tuition, small group lessons, support with performances (both solo and ensemble) as well as encouraging a life-long love of music and wider participation in music. They must be able to work with other members of the music department in the preparation and presentation of Academy ensembles, productions, and concerts. The candidate will be driven to developing student engagement and involvement in the wider life of the music department.
